Tyre Theory The course will start with a 3.5 hour theory session which will cover • Basic knowledge refresher • Tyre design o Tyre compound Meeting todays vehicle needs o Tread design Noise reduction o Wet grip o Dry grip o All season tyres o Winter tyres o Runflat tyres o Electric Vehicle tyre technologies • Tyre wear / failure causes • Vehicle functions o Servicing TPMS o Understanding ADAS and how it impacts the industry • Premium vs Budget o Features and Benefits of premium tyres • Future developments Sales techniques: Importance of: • Customer Service • Answering the telephone correctly • Reasons why people buy • Communication – Questioning techniques • Sales techniques • Objections – including how to overcome • Why sell premium tyres • Closing the sale • Finishing the customer experience Tyre Fitting – Theory / Practical Principles of: • Health & safety in tyre fitting workshops refresher • Tyre de-mounting & re-mounting • Tyre pressure sensor programming • ADAS principles • Assessment paper Practical assessment: • Workshop safe working practices • Tyre identification • Tyre deflation and demounting (ultra low profile and RFT) • TPMS sensor check and programming* • Tyre re-mounting and inflation • Wheel balancing* • Wheel alignment and effect on ADAS*
Course goals and objectives
By the end of the session the delegate will have an in depth knowledge of the technical aspects of car tyres, a good understanding of TPMS (inc service of TPMS)
