Course description

Understanding the different components that are used within the steering and suspension system allows the Technician to recognise the cause of specific issues. A thorough repair requires the Technician to test, diagnose and adjust components accurately. Correct adjustment of the geometry of angles within steering components allows a vehicle to react to all road surfaces and corners while maintaining the correct path the driver wants the vehicle to take. Ensuring all wheels are adjusted to the manufacturer’s correct settings is vital.

This course offers the learner an opportunity to explore these elements, understand how they work and how to diagnose issues and repair them in a working environment. By the end of this course, delegates will be able to: • Identify all components found in the steering and suspension system • Recognise the types of problems or failures that affect these systems • Describe the tools and equipment used to measure angles and geometry • Demonstrate diagnosis of steering and alignment problems • Demonstrate their ability to maintain, repair and adjust these systems
