Course description
Oscilloscopes are a vital tool for accurate and effective diagnosis of many components, increasing the likelihood of a “first time” fix. Scan tools may find the fault, but often only put the technician in the general area of the problem. Thorough testing of the component along with associated sensors, actuators and wiring is essential before replacing any parts. This course also meets the requirements for technicians wishing to complete the Auto Education “Road to Success” program for IMI Diagnostic Technician and Master Technician status. COURSE CONTENT: • The aim of this course is to give a detailed technical overview of the features and functions of PC-based automotive oscilloscopes • Introduction to the main features and functions of an oscilloscope and associated technical terminology. • Classroom theory sessions and workshop-based ‘hands-on’ practical activities
Course goals and objectives
On successful completion of this course candidates will: • Gain the essential knowledge and skills necessary for using an oscilloscope. • With available technical information, will be able to carry out effective testing, fault-finding and diagnosis on modern vehicle electronic systems.
