Course description

In 2025 it is expected that 80% of cars on the road will have a start stop batteries, this course will help future proof your skill set on this increase technology in the market place. To allow vehicles to lower emissions and run as efficiently as possible all systems must make the best use of the energy available. This includes vehicle charging systems which now continually monitor the electrical demand and the requirement for charging the battery. To correctly diagnose a charging related issue the Technician must understand the parameters in which the system charges and recognise the information available through the Scan tool to accurately diagnose a fault. Recognising what affects the stop/start system and the service procedures the Technician must perform when replacing a component are essential for all modern vehicle garages.

Course goals and objectives

This course offers the learner an opportunity to explore these systems, understand how they work and how to diagnose issues and repair them in a working environment. By the end of this course, delegates will be able to: • Recognise the components that are used within the system • Describe the expected test results in a good and bad system • Navigate Live Data information specific to component operation • Describe the types of problems or failures that affect these systems • Demonstrate the correct diagnosis and repair procedures
